5 Tips to Improve Your SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Today I’m sharing some tips with you on how to improve your SEO, or Search Engine Optimization. Search Engine Optimization is where you appear on Google when somebody searches for your products or services. In other words, how close to the top of the list you are. This is a crucial step for making you more accessible and increasing traffic to your website or social media pages.

 

Here are 5 tips for you to improve your company’s SEO.

Tip #1: Be sure to claim your Google business profile. A very simple, but very important step. To do this, type into Google “claim my Google business listing,” and there you will find easy instructions on how to get it done. This allows people to more easily see your location, hours, and phone number when they search for your product or service, making you much more accessible. Click here for Google Business.

Tip #2: Make sure all your information is consistent across all platforms. This includes your address, business hours, phone numbers, and any other relevant information. Essentially, what you want to do is make sure it is all listed correctly and consistently across all of your social media accounts, your website, on your Google business profile, and anywhere else you have the information listed. This also extends to any directories you may be listed on as well. Make sure your phone number is in the same format, your business name is written the same, and your address is correct. This will be a huge help to you, especially your Google My Places listing.

Tip #3: Blog! If your website doesn’t already have a blog, make sure to add one. Start writing 250 to 500 word articles about your products and services. Or alternatively, write articles about things in your industry that relate to your products or services. This will help your website have more content and reach more people on Google. If your articles are done right and people start reading them, this verifies with Google that you are a legitimate business by showing that your website has traffic. This will effectively boost your rank even higher.

Tip #4: Be sure your website is mobile friendly. This means it can be easily displayed and is functional on a mobile phone or tablet. Google looks at this and will often even de-rank your website if it is not mobile friendly.

Tip #5: Make sure you register with Google Search Console, formerly known as Google Webmaster Tools. This will encourage Google to look for your site and to verify that you have a legitimate website. It will also show Google that you actually have content on your website relating to your products or services. Both of these will help your ranking considerably.

Taking all of these tips into consideration should significantly affect where you show up when people search for your products or services, and should definitely increase your overall traffic.
